I came to the practice of law by a circuitous route and relatively late in life following a series of earlier careers.

My first real job was at the Pearl Brewing Company and I made my way up to the position of Executive Secretary to the President. I became pregnant with my first child around the time Pear Brewing Company was sold, so I then became a stay-at-home mom/volunteer/school board member during the time my three daughters attended St. Luke’s Catholic School. By then I was ready to re-enter the paid workforce and I decided to listen to an inner voice that had been urging me for some time to look at a law career.

I got a job in a law firm as a secretary while taking night classes and soon became a Certified Legal Assistant focusing in civil litigation and worked in that field for ten years before deciding to make the leap from legal assistant to lawyer. I took the LSAT and applied to several Texas law schools, not sure if any of them would be interested in having a middle-aged grandmother attending their esteemed institutions. Happily, I heard from several and I happily attended the Texas Tech University School of Law and the Rawls School of Business from 2004 to 2007, earning joint degrees of a Juris Doctorate and MBA. Since 2007 I have operated as a solo practitioner focusing in the area of wills, trusts and probate as well as small business start-ups.
